Zoomlion ZS Series Error Code System
Zoomlion ZS series scissor lifts use a two-digit error code system displayed on the main control panel. This guide covers the most common codes and their solutions.
Error Code Quick Reference
E01 - E19: Safety System Codes
E01 - Emergency Stop Active The emergency stop circuit is open. Check:
- Platform E-stop button
- Ground control E-stop button
- Foot switch (if equipped)
- E-stop circuit wiring
E02 - Pot Hole Protection The pothole protection arms have deployed or the circuit is interrupted. Verify:
- Arms are properly stowed
- Limit switches are functioning
- Wiring is intact
E05 - Tilt Sensor Fault Platform angle exceeds safe limits or sensor malfunction:
- Check machine is on level surface
- Calibrate tilt sensor per service manual
- Replace sensor if calibration fails
E09 - Gate/Rail Interlock Entry gate or safety rail is open:
- Close and latch all gates
- Check gate limit switches
- Inspect rail locking mechanisms
E20 - E39: Drive System Codes
E21 - Drive Motor Overcurrent Excessive current draw on drive motors:
- Check for debris blocking wheels
- Verify tire inflation
- Inspect motor brushes
- Test motor winding resistance
E22 - Drive Motor Thermal Drive motor has overheated:
- Allow cooling period
- Clear debris from motor
- Check cooling fan operation
- Reduce duty cycle
E25 - Speed Sensor Fault Hall effect sensor or encoder error:
- Inspect sensor gap
- Check wiring connections
- Replace sensor assembly
E40 - E59: Lift System Codes
E41 - Lift Up Timeout Platform did not reach position within time limit:
- Check hydraulic fluid level
- Verify pump operation
- Inspect for external hydraulic leaks
- Check lift cylinder
E45 - Lift Down Timeout Platform not lowering properly:
- Check descent valve operation
- Verify platform is not overloaded
- Inspect lowering valve solenoid
E48 - Height Limit Fault Height limiting system error:
- Check height sensor calibration
- Verify limit switch operation
- Inspect wiring harness
E60 - E79: Electrical System Codes
E61 - Battery Low Battery voltage below minimum:
- Charge batteries immediately
- Test battery capacity
- Check charging system
E62 - Battery High Overvoltage condition detected:
- Check charger output
- Verify correct battery type
- Test voltage regulator
E65 - Contactor Fault Main contactor not engaging:
- Check contactor coil
- Inspect contact surfaces
- Verify control signal
- Replace contactor if pitted
E80 - E99: Controller Codes
E81 - EEPROM Error Controller memory fault:
- Power cycle machine
- If persists, reflash controller
- Replace controller if necessary
E85 - CAN Bus Error Communication fault between controllers:
- Check CAN wiring
- Verify termination resistors
- Inspect connector pins
E99 - General Controller Fault Unspecified controller error:
- Document operating conditions
- Power cycle and retest
- Contact factory support with error log
Clearing Error Codes
Most error codes clear automatically when the fault condition is resolved. For persistent codes:
- Key OFF
- Wait 60 seconds
- Key ON
- If code remains, fault still exists
When to Escalate
Contact a qualified technician for:
- Any code starting with E8x
- Multiple simultaneous codes
- Codes that return after clearing
- Codes accompanied by unusual operation
